Energy Efficiency is Always a Good Thing – Good for Our Wallets and Good for Our Planet!
There are Federal and State tax rebates for things that make your home (or car) more energy efficient. The graphic below (or above – wherever you put it) which was produced by Efficiency Maine, answers frequently asked questions about improving your home’s efficiency.
Maine Rebates:
Efficiency Maine www.efficiencymaine.com offers rebates for a variety of products and services to help make your home more efficient. While some of these rebates are higher (up to $9,200) for lower income families, you can get up to around $5,200 at any income. These improvements range from energy audits, to insulation, heating systems, EV chargers, solar and more. The State of Maine has a list of Residential Registered Vendors who will help you perform the work as well as file the needed paperwork to qualify for the credit.
New Hampshire Rebates:
New Hampshire manages their program a little differently. Their NH Saves program has a variety of webpages you can refer to for energy savings.

An Energy Efficiency Calculator is available at www.nhsaves.com. This helps determine how energy efficient your house is and that determines if you are eligible for a discounted energy audit of only $100. That audit would be used to determine what other services you might need, and how the state will help you pay for them.
